Meet the Lakeside Counseling Team

Hello, I’m Katie Lindskog! (she/her)

Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC

Katie Lindskog is the director of Lakeside Counseling Center. She earned her Masters in Counseling in 2005 and has had the opportunity to work in a diverse array of settings as a therapist and previously as a school counselor. In her experiences as a school counselor in Chicago Public Schools and Barcelona, Spain, as well as a psychotherapist in rural Wisconsin, Katie came to realize that a lack of access to quality counseling and psychotherapy services was a common thread and compelling reason behind her opening Lakeside Counseling Center.

At this time, Katie is actively not taking on new clients, however she is open to consultation calls with other therapists who are looking to increase access to mental health services and grow their services. She is also available for speaking engagements. Please reach out for more details.

Counseling Approach

I see myself and those who I work with as interconnected with the systems we live within—many of those systems have been designed and maintained to do harm to many people. We work from the assumption that for many people, simply trying to exist in this world can feel traumatizing. Through the lens of liberation-based therapy, we will work together to both address the systemic conditions we cannot control, as well as the personal perspectives, thoughts and feelings we can control. We will work together to build a sense of trust and respect, knowing that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to help provide perspective, reflection and relationship around how to get to the place you want to be. I use a Motivational Interviewing approach in managing concrete problems, as well as other talk-based interventions. I am trained in differing cognitive-base styles that we may use in treatment if it feels beneficial to you. I primarily use talk-based therapy, but we can also dive into art and writing-based expression. For young people, I can employ play-based interventions as well.
